As part of Feedback Fest, an International Fanworks Day event, I’m sharing a list of some of my favorite pieces of nygmobblepot fanart!

Artists share so much with us here on Tumblr, but often don’t get much more than a like or a reblog in return. This is an opportunity to say exactly how much we love their art!

The Gotham fandom is absolutely brimming with amazing artists, this list is just a sampler of what I’ve come across - please feel free to reblog and add links to your own favorite pieces, along with the reasons you love it!

1. @orangetranquilizer‘s work is so adorable, it’s difficult not to squeal out loud when gazing upon it. Ozzie’s expression in this piece cuts directly to my soul, in the best way. So much emotion on both of their faces, conveyed with so few lines! Also the lil red jammies! And the soft light!! Pieces like this reinvigorate my love for the pairing when the canon makes me despair <3
2. @strudelcreep keeps the fluff going with this cuddling-by-the-piano piece! The linework and colors are so soft and organic, and all the little touches from the candles to the piano pedals perfectly complement Ed & Oz’s quiet contentment with each other. *gently holds this piece close to my heart*
3. @doubleenigma magically blends fluff with murder, and that’s quite the feat. Head to toe, kisses to corpses, this piece captures nygmobblepot in all its true-villainous-love glory! The dark yet soft atmosphere with touches of the boys’ signature green & purple pairs excellently with the content, and little details like the bare bulb and chinese take-out box bring reality back into the almost fantasy-like scene.
4. @twentyonepairsofshoes​‘s lineart brings me practically to tears, I swear. It’s so sharp and clean and absolutely captures Oswald’s various moods, from pouty grump to King of Gotham And Loving It. And the lil hands linking pinkies in the corner?? How can I deal with the cuteness of that?? Y’know that art mood that’s like “I would….eat this” bc you just love it? a lot? and don’t have the words? that’s how I feel about this.
5. this lil sepia beauty by @darklink8​ is some weapons-grade cuteness! The style, with dark outer lines and thinner details makes it feel very comic-y and stylized and I love it! And the way Ed curves so sweetly towards Oswald, and Oswald reaches out to take the tea like Ed’s the only thing he’ll allow into the little blanket-fort he’s constructed around his aching heart…this piece wonderfully captures a slice of the s2 nygmobblepot dynamic <3
6. @ursulabatur​‘s Gustav Klimt-inspired piece makes me wanna YELL and then print it out, and hang it up in a museum, because I adore it. The limited, warm color palette is so engaging, especially since it pulls away from their usual cooler-colored wardrobe tendencies, and makes the scene feel cozy and intimate. Also, infinite kudos for drawing all those hands - they’re dang complicated to capture, and this piece makes them lively and dynamic!
7. @kirstenatic‘s art is so amazing, I can almost forgive Gotham for not letting Ed & Oswald kiss, because I have this gorgeousness to make up for it. There’s so much motion in the lines, and so many little emotional touches, from Ed’s querying lifted finger to Oswald’s firm grab of Ed’s tie, that make the art pop off the page. Black & white, with elegant simplicity, I could stare at this happily for hours.
8. Last but certainly not least, it would be difficult to create a nygmobblepot art rec list without including the wonderful & prolific Selene, @nygmobblepot-fanart! I remember seeing this jaw-dropping piece for the first time and just…staring. For so long. Because it was perfect, bringing together elements from the show & comics to create a fantastic glimpse into Ed & Oz’s possible future. There are so many details I adore: the stripe of color highlighting their embrace, Oswald’s monocle, the nuances of their love conveyed through their grasping hands…I could go on about this forever.

The amount of trust Oswald has in Ed even after everything that happened, to shake his hand making a deal, to let Ed hold a razor blade to his throat as a ploy, to unlock Ed from his cage with a gun in Ed’s hand, and even drop his weapon outside when Ed could easily kill him. All because he trusts Edward will follow through with their deal. If that doesn’t come from some form of remaining love I don’t know where it’s coming from.

Imagine Ed walking away from Oswald and as he gets farther away the adrenaline he had with Oswald starts to slowly drift away.  That’s when he realized no one really made him feels alive like Oswald did and not even his drug induced hallucinations gave him the same thrill.
