i didnt know pokemon was a game until i was like 15

in russia nobody really plays consoles so pokemon was never really imported i think….like i had a gameboy but i never remember pokemon being sold
Actually….I think the reason was simply because it was never translated into russian and russians hate english so nobody even knew that the anime was based on a game. I think its the same for other countries where pokemon was not translated, like i know for sure that its the same in Poland
but children did watch anime and played with those
i actually never watched pokemon as a child because it was at like 6am and i lived close to school so i would rather wake up in time for sailor moon, i really loved sailor moon way more at the time it was just way cooler to me, so sparkly
the first time i actually played pokemon was when for 14th birthday my friend send me LeafGreen it was extremely confusing and hard. i think i only got into pokemon at gen 6 because france, and the games are easier to complete
