But seriously, isn’t this exactly what society does to so many of us? We start off as these unique individuals. We spend our entire lives ‘discovering ourselves’: carefully choosing what we like, what we don’t like, how we want to look, what our views are, etc. and so often we have begun to become somewhat happy with the choices we’ve made, because when we are who we want to be, it’s simple to like ourselves. It’s effortless, like breathing.
But then we step outside our doors, outside the safety of solitude, and it gets harder. Out there this beautiful thing we are isn’t quite as beautiful to everyone else. So, one ‘small detail’ at a time, we begin to change the things that are different.
Until we’re a circle, like everyone else.
This is when we start to hate what we see in the mirror. Because why would we like a plain, insignificant circle when we know that what we once were was so much better?
*bringing random Spongebob inspired rant to a close*
I think that being ourselves (the original picture), no matter what, is one of the biggest keys to finally liking what what we see again.
So please, don’t erase your special qualities so that society can have another damn circle.
Create yourself and don’t erase a damn thing. Be exactly who you want to be.
The circles are just jealous.
Wow, I guess this came full… circle.
