In case anyone has hopes, here let me help destroy them.

1. It’s a cis girl playing a trans boy. That’s transphobic. 

2. The director constantly misgenders Ray, calling him a girl and using she/her/hers pronouns. 

3. Actual quote from the director, Gaby Dellal: "The part is a girl and she is a girl who is presenting in a very ineffectual way as a boy…She’s just a girl who is being herself and is chasing the opportunity to start hormone treatment. So to actually use a trans boy was not an option because this isn’t what my story is about.“

4. This movie is not for trans people. It is for cis people to pretend to care, while exploiting and making a mockery of us, and to profit off of the violence perpetuated against the trans community.

5. Another quote, incase you don’t quite believe 4. From Dellal again: “I would never discriminate against a trans kid or actor coming up to audition, but in this day and age in cinema, where it’s almost impossible to raise the financing, unfortunately we have to have some people that mean a certain amount of money.”

6. Just read this whole interview because it’s nothing but misgendering, transphobic garbage.
