i really hate that EA rushed DA2 because it had soooo much potential and easily had the best cast out of the DA series imo, but because it was considered a “””bad””” game throughout the fandom i’m afraid bioware is going to fall back on everything that was good about the game for future installments? you can already see it happening with inquisition like…

  • there’s more of an emphasis on epic adventure than on socialization
  • there are more ~amazing~ party members who have already established their place in the world rather than a bunch of nobodies who are trying to figure out where they fit in
  • there’s more emphasis on characters’ development responding to you rather than growing independently of the player
  • there were far less meaningful emotional punches overall, and no i don’t count here lies the abyss because it was such a cheap shot at the player and not so much at anyone in game, save maybe varric
  • there was no interpretive ending so there’s nothing left to be desired after the fact. for me once the game was over it was over and i honestly didn’t care to imagine what happened to the cast after the game because everything wrapped up too well, save for what happened to solas and hawke.

don’t get me wrong DA:I was objectively a good game, but it just didn’t have the same heart to it that DA2 had, and i hate that everything good about DA2 is going to be overlooked and has already been overlooked because it was considered a “flop.”
