today I found out that in russian junkrat is called крысавчек which is literally just the russian words for rat and handsome boy fused together (крыса + красавчик) and its the best translation for anything that ive ever heard i never wanna call him junkrat again theres only handsome rat boy now

niuniente:

On a positive note I’m still not over the fact a Russian name for Junkrat is basically sorta just Hunkrat.

Hey guys! Here’s a post that I hope some will find helpful, things I have picked up along the way that I wish I had known from the start!  These are not set in stone, and only just suggestions, I’m no expert okay guys

THINGS I WISH I HAD KNOWN ABOUT PHOTOSHOP:

1.  FLOW.  Flow was put in place primarily for the airbrush folks.  Now its relevance has changed slightly.  With textured brushes, try reducing the flow to “expose” texture.
2.  Ctrl+U : HUE/SATURATION/LIGHTNESS.  For people who are indecisive about color, use this to slide around the color quickly instead of repainting or replacing the color.
3.  CLIPPING/ LAYER MASKS.  Seriously, take five minutes to do this.  A good online resource is ctrlpaint.  This will be instrumental in creating hard edges, something beginner digital artists really struggle with.  Also non-destructive, you will save SO much time.
4.  With that said, ctrl+alt+g makes the current layer you are on a clipping mask.  You can layer mask a group.
5.  MULTIPLY and the surrounding layer types in its little section is like a dark glaze.  Good for shadows.
6.  OVERLAY and the surrounding layer types in its little section is like a lightening glaze.  Good for lighting. LIGHTEN and the dudes around him are also good for lighting, esp. screen.
7.  MAKE YOUR GOSH DARN BACKGROUND IN THE INTERFACE LIGHTER.  Your contrast will thank you.  Right click on the background of the interface and choose the one you like the best.  I know dark grey looks sexy, I know.
8.  TRANSFORM TOOLS ARE THE BEST (but paint over them).  If you have a tile, pattern, whatever- Image>transform> choose your weapon.  Have a tiled floor? Don’t you dare paint all those tiles. Scales?  Paint them flat in a square, then use the warp tool to push them around the form.  Then make your painterly adjustments.
9.  PAINTING SHORTCUTS:  Numbers affect the opacity. Shift+ Number affects the flow. Holding down alt gives you the eyedropper. Brackets [] change size of brush, these dudes <> cycle between your brushes.
10.  HISTOGRAM. If you have a fairly even histogram, this means your distribution of lights mids and darks is even.  If it is skewed, and you don’t mean it to be, adjust accordingly.

Just be casual about it and love your art I love you all

Hello again guys!  Here are some tips about brushes- once again, I’m no expert, so explore these points on your own!  Some of these are a little more abstract, while others are to help deal with minor brush annoyances ;)

1.  PHOTOSHOP BRUSHES are based on a “stamp” system, not a brush system like some painting programs. That is why photoshop brushes are great for things like chains and repeated patterns, but you have to fiddle with them a bit to make them look natural.
2.  The first brush setting underneath the brush panel you must become familiar with is “transfer.” this tab plays with the opacity and flow of the brush.
3.  As stated in previous tutorials, the essential hotkeys for brushwork are:
[/]= brush size larger and smaller
alt= eyedropper tool
Numbers= opacity of brush
Shift+Number= flow of brush
4.  Brush icon not showing up/ behaving correctly?  Usually one of four things: Caps Lock is on, Edit in Quick Mask Mode is on (which can be found on your left main tool panel), the brush blend mode is on a different setting (found next to opacity and flow), or you have something selected (crtl+d will do the trick).
5.  DON’T knock the photoshop brush sets that come with the program.  Many artists I know use these brushes while tweaking the settings.  Consider utilizing settings such as dual brush and texture to make these ordinary brushes great.
6.  Brushes with large amounts of detailed texture tend to pixelate and not work correctly when scaled down too far.
7.  Trying to create a natural brush tip? Brush settings>Shape Dynamics> Angle Jitter> Control: Direction. This will make the brush more natural and dependent on how you stroke your pen.
8. Do you use a signature/watermark a lot? A certain shape or pattern? Make it a brush.
9. When changing things like opacity and flow in both the brush settings and the layer settings, Photoshop will sort of get “stuck” there, and you will see the number highlighted.  Simply hit enter (don’t bother reaching for the mouse!) and it will go away.
10.  Rotating the canvas will help you with your brushstrokes. Shift+R rotates the canvas in nice equal increments, and is a easy way to set the rotation back to 0.
11. Texture brushes just don’t look right?  Make a selection, zoom out, and make the brush slightly bigger while you paint. Think of them as big sponges, not brushes.

Thanks again guys! I have a lot of tutorial requests from you, and I’ll be working through more soon!

THIS IS A PSA TO ANYONE PLANNING TO SEE THE MOVIE “SAUSAGE PARTY” (no spoilers)

everythingsundercontrol:

i saw this movie with my friend tonight. from the beginning it didn’t seem like the type of movie that i’d like, sorta crude/dirty jokes. i assumed it’d be kinda like how family guy is. but it was my friends birthday and it had gotten pretty good reviews on rotten tomato so we figured why not.

this movie is absolutely disgusting. being a new release the theater was initially pretty crowded, but well over half the audience had left by the end of the movie (which lasts only 90 minutes). from the beginning there was a whole lot of unnecessary profanity (trying to be funny but not succeeding) and also a lot of sexual innuendos, both of which i expected. everything got worse and worse over the course of the movie.

i’ve been trying to figure out how to word this but there’s just so much that happened i’m going to make a list of all the things this 90 minute animation about talking food included:
⁃ a violent rape scene (multiple).
⁃ drug abuse (various types of drugs, and lots of them)
⁃ gore (not the food type, there was also bloody human gore)
⁃ racism / sexism / homophobia
⁃ towards the end of the movie there is a huge sex scene. i can’t say that it’s graphic because it’s animated food but i honestly can’t believe it’s not X rated.
⁃ • about half of the remaining audience left the theatre during this scene
⁃ needless to say, everything was also very violent

by the end of the movie there was less than ¼ of the original audience left. i’m pretty sure those of us that remained were only there out of either stubbornness or that (as in my case) they were just too horrified to move. if you still want to see this movie after reading this, i wish you the best of luck, and i’m sure some people out there will enjoy it. for the rest of us, if you’re triggered or upset by anything in the above list, i would highly discourage you from seeing this movie.

~ please message me for any specifics bc i’m keeping this post spoiler-free ~

By far the biggest episode we ever made was Weird 3. So I’ve split this into two posts. I spent a lot of time trying to capture a sky that I had felt was suited for a world as crazy as Weirdmaggedon, and I finally found one I was happy with by the time we made it to Weird 3. The top 2 Images line art was drawn by Ian Worrel, and painted by me. The third image was pretty much a collage of art that I pieced together from multiple artists from the show. Some line art by Janine Chang, Ian Worrel, Paul Tsui, and some line art and paint by myself. The explosion in the ground was drawn by Ian Worrel or Sun Jae Lee, and painted by me. The Bill painting I believe was drawn by Stephanie Ramirez, which I then painted.
