After Die Another Day, which was….special, Casino Royale, a pretty good origin story of Bond that was very different but good, and the terrible mess that was Quantum of Solace, we finally, after 10 years of waiting, have a James Bond movie. Daniel Craig is great and more suave than before. Javier Bardeem is just glorious. We finally have a Q again. There’s Bond’s complete carelessness for everything around him but the mission at hand. There’s the James Bond theme fully played in the film (not just maybe two seconds in the end credits). And they finally do the thing where he shoots down the scope. There’s not really a Bond girl but I can live with that this once. And best of all, they reset everything “back to the old days” but are still making something new. So they can make more! It is not the best Bond as some are saying. But it’s the best Bond we’ve had in a very long time.
